Over the last few months we have been busy enhancing our magnetic track lighting system – Attracta, with the addition of two new fittings to provide customers more flexibility than ever before over their display illumination requirements.

Customers can now utilise our F3 Stalk fitting to vertically illuminate objects and artefacts with minimal fuss. Once placed in the Attracta track, the stalk which is connected to the foot via a magnetic ball joint can be manually rotated up to 360° and tilted up to 180°, allowing the LED light to be easily pointed in the required direction. The stalk is available in 2 different lengths and can be specified with a 3000K or 4000K colour temperature LED strip and colour rendering index of >92.

The second addition to our range is the F4 Bridge fitting which enables multiple lighting options to be realised. In its simplest form, the bridge can be placed on a single Attracta track in order to provide a horizontal stream of light at an elevated position, which can be tilted up to 180° to suit varying requirements. Alternatively, multiple bridges can be placed on parallel Attracta tracks and used to illuminate displays in opposing directions. The bridge is available in 3 different lengths and can be specified with a 3000K or 4000K colour temperature LED strip with colour rendering index of >92.

You can view the technical specifications for the fittings here, and see them firsthand at the Museum + Heritage show where our sales engineers will be demonstrating the range. The show is taking place at the Olympia West, London on the 17th & 18th May, stand H14.

We are pleased to announce the release of our new EFO Adaptor.

Available to Fiberstars customers who have obsolete EFO 1+1 and EFO AG illuminators, the threaded interface enables these customers to pair their existing Fiberstars harnesses with selected LED illuminators.

The Adaptor can be supplied fitted to our illuminator or as a standalone item for those who already have one of our LED models. It is currently compatible with selected illuminators including our Vega, Nova and Sirius.

To find out more about the product please refer to our LED lluminator website pages.

Over the last few months we've noticed a real increase in the number of lighting projects that we are being asked to manufacture bespoke products for, particularly those utilising both copper and LEDs. One of the more recent requests that we have received was for a custom light rack for a private residence in central France.

Kate & Sam Lighting Designers commissioned the light rack on behalf of their client, who wanted to create an eye catching focal point in their kitchen.

We constructed the rack entirely from copper pipes and fitted linear LED lighting into the underside of the stadium shaped form providing functional lighting onto the island unit below. The internal arrangement of copper pipes can be used to suspend the cooking pans freeing up cupboard space and creating a unique installation in the home.

The light rack is pictured here ahead of being packaged and shipped out to the client’s residence for installation.

What a whirlwind Light + Building was this year! Around 216,000 people from 160 countries reportedly made the journey out to Frankfurt to view, touch and discuss the latest innovations in lighting and we were there in the midst of it all with our new stand and latest product range.

Our magnetic track lighting system Attracta was unveiled at the show and went down a storm with lighting designers, architects and case manufacturers alike. The system's versatile fittings which can be moved, placed, slid and removed without interference from cables or wires, actually proved so popular that we had to courier more datasheets out to the show!

Our Scotch whisky tasting sessions also attracted quite a lot of interest from visitors keen to toast our 25 years in business with a wee dram or two of peated malts and sherried whiskies.

All in all it was a great show - thanks to everyone who took the time to pop along to the stand and for making it such a success. It was really good to catch up with lots of familiar faces and to meet a whole host of new ones who we look forward to working with during the year.

To celebrate our fiber optic lighting systems featuring in the new Star Wars exhibit at Madame Tussauds in London, we have been running a competition to give one lucky person the chance to win their very own fiber optic Star Ceiling Kit, which they can use to recreate the starry space sky effects that are used throughout the exhibition and in the Star Wars movies.

All that you had to do to be in with a chance of winning the kit was visit our website and enter a few details before midnight last night. It couldn't be any easier!

We have now collated all of the entries and are delighted to announce that Marta Michalski from Elektra Lighting Design was the chosen one. Two runners up have also been selected at random and they are Melissa Cockings of First Light Products and Justin Tricker of Inscape Ltd.

Congratulations to you all, we hope that you enjoy the prizes!

And to everyone else, thanks for taking part.

They will on hand throughout the event to discuss and demonstrate a number of products, including our traditional fiber optic fittings, our 'plug and play' MetroLED gantry lighting system, our recently released energy efficient LED light fittings, and our range of high output LED illuminators, all of which have been designed and manufactured in-house at our facility in Coldstream. Scotland.

When UFO was asked to supply and install a lighting system in the ornate gardens of Abbotsford House, we jumped at the chance. Not only is Abbotsford House one of the Scottish Borders' most scenic estates with its stately structure and prime location on the banks of the River Tweed, it also happens to be the former home of one of Scotland's greatest historical novelists and poets, Sir Walter Scott.

From the outset the team at Abbotsford knew that they wanted to employ a lighting system that would not only visually enhance the beautiful archways and carvings that are situated throughout the large walled gardens, but also be economical to run. This provided us with an ideal opportunity to use a combination of products from our low power LED range.

Our round LED pavers were used to illuminate the arches that line the garden's pathways with a wash of warm light, whilst our articulated LED lights highlight the aged stone carvings that are scattered amongst the garden's neat hedgerows and give them a certain mystical look in the dark of night.

We are delighted to announce that we have extended our LED range with the addition of a new collection of accent lights that will effortlessly transform the look and feel of any architectural, retail or residential application.

The comprehensive collection, which was exclusively unveiled at Lightfair International in New York City in May, comprises of no-less than fifteen up and downlights, each of which have been designed and engineered to the highest standard at our manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom.

Using our state-of-the-art engineering equipment, our staff have turned, milled, drilled and tapped the components that are used in our LED luminaires. Once fully assembled, the products have then undergone stringent testing to ensure that they work efficiently and are of the highest quality and durability. Retaining tight control over the complete design and manufacturing process not only enables us to fulfil the largest of orders, but also gives us a competitive advantage over those companies that source poorer quality products from overseas.

Thanks to their low power consumption and lifespan of 40,000 hours, our energy efficient LED lights offer the ideal, hassle free solution for decorative lighting in new projects or when replacing traditional energy hungry lights. Each luminaire is available with a choice of colour temperatures and features high color rendering and dimming functionality for environments where colour reproduction is of vital importance.

With their discreet design, the robust and versatile lights can easily fulfil a variety of design requirements, from dramatically illuminating kitchens, livingrooms and hallways, to providing functional marker lighting on walkways, driveways or stairs.

More than 800 key players from the lighting industry gathered together at the London Hilton on Park Lane, to find out who had won the coveted Lighting Design Award categories and to help celebrate with the winners.

Our very own sales manager Mike Wylie, and sales engineers David Rich and Konrad Moller, were joined at the prestigious black-tie event by a number of guest clients from some of the UK's finest lighting design practices.

The night commenced with a lavish drinks reception on arrival, before sitting down to enjoy a delicious three-course meal and the much-anticipated awards ceremony. The merriment carried on into the small hours at the after party which took place in the Hilton's basement nightclub.

It was a great night with fantastic company and we look forward to next year's ceremony.

They say that appearances can be deceiving and in the case of our new LED illuminator, the Cube, they aren't half wrong. As the smallest of all of our illuminators the Cube packs a seriously powerful punch for something so small.

With its bright light output and full DMX controls, the Cube is ideal for powering fiber optic lighting in decorative, architectural and sensory applications. Its color changing capabilities can easily be controlled using the top mounted buttons, the supplied RF remote control, or via the built-in DMX ports that allow it to connect to a standard DMX controller.

Internally the long life characteristics and low power consumption of the device's 35W RGBW LED array, results in lower running costs and minimal maintenance, making this device a much more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional tungsten halogen or metal halide models.

To find out more about the device, click here.

The Sirius is not just the newest addition to our LED illuminator range; it is also one of the most powerful thanks to the latest LED technology that it uses.

Its high light output combined with DMX dimming means that it can easily rival traditional metal halide or tungsten halogen models. With an output of 5700lm at 5500K, we believe Sirius to be the brightest LED iluuminator for fiber optics on the market.

The unit generates significantly less noise and uses less energy than traditional illuminator types, making it the ideal choice for illuminating museum exhibits, the outdoor realm or high-end architecture.
