City of Lees - Time Capsule

Lee’s Summit, MO, USA

In 2015 Lee’s Summit unveiled a new art sculpture ‘Emergence’ at their Founder’s Day Celebration in honor of the city’s 150th birthday. Designed and created by local artist David Eames of Fossil Forge Design, the impressive sculpture houses the Lee’s Summit time capsule which was originally buried in 1965 to mark the city’s 100th birthday and is due to be opened on the bicentennial anniversary in 2065.
The stainless steel sculpture spans 8ft in height and 6ft in width and is situated at City Hall Plaza. Our Kansas-based agent, Lighting Solutions, was approached by David Eames and asked to specify a lighting system for the sculpture and opted to use our fiber optic products.
We supplied a PMMA fiber optic harness with P17T stainless steel end fittings and Nova LED illuminator. An RF remote control was supplied with the energy efficient illuminator and could be used to control the range and speed of colours illuminated through the sculpture.
